Name Richard Lynch Email info@upak.ie RoleCommission ChairmanIntroduction:After a very late arrival on the cycling scene about five years ago in my late 40s I’ve tried to make up for lost time by spending as much time as possible on my bike! Prior to that I had been a keen off-road and on-road motorcyclist racing (slowly) in Enduro and Moto-X events!I love bike racing and will regularly be seen competing at XC, Cyclo-X and even road races where I make up for my lack of ability by pushing my aging body beyond reasonable limits! I make no apology for enjoying the social as much as the competitive aspect of these events and always get a great buzz from meeting people and having the Craic!

Name Conor Farrell Email conor@tullamorebmx.comRole SecretaryIntroduction:Born in Australia, and prior to moving to Ireland in the early 90′s, I spent over 10 years riding BMX at State and National Championship level with my home club being that of current World #1 Sam Willoughby. With the rebirth of BMX racing in Ireland in 2011, I welcomed the opportunity to get back on the saddle and participated in the 2012 National BMX Race Series. My body wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about racing again as I was after nearly 20 years, but I had a blast anyway! I am working toward attaining Level One certification as a Cycling Ireland coach with a view to specialising in MTB and BMX. I am working with a group in Tullamore to get a BMX Race Track and Cycle Training Academy established which will cater to cyclists from all disciplines including BMX, Commuter, CycloX, Leisure, MTB, Road and Track. My aim is to bring a little cohesion to the efforts of everyone involved in off-road cycling in Ireland no matter what discipline and get as many people trying out different disciplines also. I have been around the MTB scene helping out for the last 5 years, and I have been actively biking for the last 16 months or so. I hope that with all my organising skills I will be able to do my part in helping to improve things for all mountainbikers. |

For 2012 we aim to have some training days, have the squad racing the full IDMS series & BDS as well and some international events. My background is that I have worked for the last 20 years as an Outdoor Instructor and for the last ten years I have ran my own business which offers tuition in Surfing, Sea Kayaking, Coasteering etc. I have also travelled extensively around the world on many adventures. I have vast experience of working with young people and helping them to achieve their potential in adventure sports. My Mountain Biking experience is wide and varied but it is XC that I am most passionate about. I race at Munster & NPS Level and finished the Transalp Mountain Bike Race in 2012. I am also a father of 2 great kids who both enjoy their Mountain Biking. I am based in Cork and am a member of MBCC. I am looking forward to working with youth & adult riders to bring the sport of XC Mountain Biking to new heights here in Ireland. Please feel free to contact me and share your ideas or help out. |

NameRichard Thornhill Email irishdownhill@gmail.com Role Commission Member (DH) IntroductionI’ve been Mountain biking since 2001 and have been racing downhill pretty much full time since, finished 10th overall in Seniors twice and always win Practice! I have been the main trail builder in Dunmanway Co Cork since 2002, ran a few races there including 4 DH NPS races before the the last felling break there I was also a founding member of the Rebel racing club which has since merged with 021racing. its my first time on the MTB commission but I have been the MTB rep on the Munster council for 2004 and 2005. My aim for the year is to push Downhill on to a new level, make it more accessable for new riders and push the young elite riders to new heights. |

Name Alison Murphy Email alisonmurphy28@gmail.com Role Commission Member (BMX) Introduction I started racing BMX in the early 80’s, competing in Ireland and the UK including the World Championships in ’86. A group of us are working on putting together a BMX race scene here starting with a track in Ratoath and hopefully building from there. We’re currently fundraising for the Ratoath track so all donations/sponsorship welcome! Visit Ratoathbmx.com. Our aim is to promote BMX racing here and encourage more young riders, male and female, into the sport. As soon as they can ride a bike without stabilizers, they’re capable of riding a BMX race. |
