XC National Marathon Championships 2013

Ballyhoura, Co. Limerick – 29th of September

Welcome to the 2013 National Marathon Championships which is taking place in Ballyhoura, County Limerick on Sunday the 29th of September. Ballyhoura is Ireland’s largest trail centre with over 90km of purpose built bike trails thanks to Coillte. This race has been held here in previous years, though the 2013 edition boasts a completely new route.

Ballyhoura

This route will be a clover leaf design which passes through the start/finish area three times, making it an interesting race for both competitors and spectators alike. The course will be a mixture of wide forest roads, official trail centre single track and lots of technical natural features. There are two distances to choose from, a 35km support race or the official 75km championship distance.

The Route

The full route will be kept secret until the day of the event. There are two distances to choose from, 35km or 75km. The 35km route is designed to give a taste for mountain bike racing without the long distance. The 75km route is the main championship distance, a demanding course set to challenge both physical conditioning and technical ability.
