2011 National Cyclocross Championships – Details

The course is approx 1.4 mile in length and should take the lead riders approx 7-7.20 mins per lap. As you can see some 5 mins have been cut of out the course used by Apollo at the start of the season. It is a fast flowing course with a new section that Apollo hasn’t used in some years. Riders will be pleased to know that the zigzag back section has been shorterend and riders will only be riding up hill once keeping the racing fast. Of course as always at lurgan park there will also be the jumps which always attract the local spectators. There will be a double pit area in which we have worked hard to get to as close to half way round the course as possible. The pits will be on tarmac area and a water supply will be available to use.

“Riders should take note to bring their own bucket and sponge if they wish to clean bikes.”

The Starting area will also be on a tarmac area down beside the pits and give the riders plenty of room to race before going not the short wooded area. While the finish line will be up beside the pavilion where Apollo finished their race making an exciting finish. Riders in both MTB support race and Main CX Race will also have chipped timing ensure that everybody gets a timed race.

On-line sign on will be made available 2 weeks prior to the event. There will also be sign-on on the day of the event. Sign on will be open from 9.30 on the day.

Note riders who intend to ride in the Main event will not qualify for medals if they are riding under a day licence.
