Eireman X Offroad Triathlon and Duathlon
This is your last chance to enter the unique off road Triathlon & Duathlon combo on the 23rd of June. Taking place in Courtown Harbour woods near Gorey, Wexford. This intimate race has a cult following and was rated 10/10 in a post race survey in 2011. The mountain bike circuit through the woods includes you carrying your bike through water and over fallen trees. The course is not overly technical but having the correct gear on the sprocket will help…!! The bike is a two lap course so if you don’t get it right the first time – you know what to expect the second time around. For those doing the Triathlon the swim is 750metres parallel to the shore making it comfortable for first timers. For those who don’t fancy the swim leg they can enter the Duathlon and do an off road run for 2km instead before hitting the bike. The last run is 5km of pure cross country. You dissect 2 woods and have to jump into 3 rivers to finish the course. You could call it an obstacle course – we like to call it controlled madness!
This year they have dropped the entry fee by eliminating the t-shirt. So the entry fee for Triathlon is €35 and Duathlon is €25. Also here is no need to purchase the one day licence from triathlon Ireland saving you an additional €15 as the event is independently insured. This makes it a great starter race with a twist for anyone looking to try a Triathlon/ adventure race.
