Red Bull Foxhunt 2017

Now in its 6th year the Red Bull Fox hunt took place over the weekend of 7-8 October 2017 at Kilbroney Park in Rostrevor.   The event has gained fame over those years attracting riders from all across Ireland and across the world.  450 places went online and were sold out in less than one hour.

On the Saturday there was time for practice with an individual timed run in the afternoon.  The timed run was then used to decide what line the riders would be in for the Sunday’s mass start event.  Lined up at the top of the mountain were 3 lines of riders all wearing the red tunics.  Further up the hill were the chasing “foxes” with 3 riders this year – downhill world champions Gee Atherton and Loic Bruni, and three time Foxhunt winner Colin Ross.  The foxes’ job was to get to the front of all the hounds before the finish in the caravan park.  This wasn’t to be this year as the first 8 riders down were –
Kelan Grant
James McFerran
Conor Bate
Andy Godfrey
Gareth McKee
Jacob Dickson
Scott Wallace
Michael Cowan

Gee Atherton was the first ‘fox’ down in 9th place with Colin Ross 17th and Loic Bruni 18th.
